Sewing has been the thread connecting Karen Squires’ life since childhood. Introduced to the world of textiles by her grandmother—a seamstress and fabric shop owner in North Carolina—Karen spent her formative summers immersed in fabric bins and observing the rhythm of professional garment making. This early exposure ignited a lifelong passion for functional design.

While Karen’s journey began with designing her own clothing, her creative focus shifted a decade ago toward the architecture of the handbag. Frustrated by the “disposable” quality of mass-produced goods, she sought to craft pieces that balanced rugged durability with timeless elegance. This mission led to the launch of Squires Canvas Creations in 2021.

Today, Karen’s work is defined by a meticulous selection of premium materials, including authentic Harris Tweed®, supple leather, and heavy-duty canvas. Every bag and accessory is a study in craftsmanship, designed to be as practical as it is beautiful. For Karen, each piece is more than an accessory; it is a tribute to her heritage and a celebration of tactile, enduring art.
