Sewing has been a cherished part of Karen Squires’ life since childhood. Her grandmother, a seamstress and fabric shop owner in North Carolina, introduced her to the world of textiles. Summers spent playing in fabric bins and observing her grandmother’s classes ignited Karen’s passion for creating.

That love of sewing continued through high school, where she designed and made her own clothing and accessories, including her prom dresses. About nine years ago, Karen shifted her focus to bags, determined to craft pieces that balanced durability, functionality, and timeless style — a clear departure from the quality she found in stores.

With encouragement from family and friends, she refined her designs and launched Squires Canvas Creations in 2021. Using high-quality materials like Harris Tweed®, leather, and canvas, Karen creates bags and accessories that are both beautiful and practical. Each piece reflects her dedication to craftsmanship and the joy she finds in bringing her designs to life.
