BIO
Carol Siegel is a sign painter and graphic artist living in Catonsville, Maryland. She has a BFA from Syracuse University and has been a partner at Coyote Graphics since 1988. Coyote Graphics creates hand painted signage, carved and gold leafed monument signs, vinyl banners, window, truck and boat lettering and specializes in restoring old, damaged wooden signs. In addition, Carol paints pet portraits and murals and works in stained glass.
As a former road musician, she has a special love for stringed instruments, so finding a guitar destined for the dumpster initiated a journey into mosaics. Unplayable instruments that are destined to be discarded are turned into mosaic wall art using stained glass, glass tile, antique buttons and whatever new (and old) materials she can find. She’s got a studio full of fiddles, ukuleles and guitars awaiting loving recreation into works of art that will allow them to live on as visual statements after their voices have been stilled by damage or neglect. She also creates mirrors, mosaic panels, jewelry and decorative items using beads, buttons, glass and whatever other materials come her way. Discarded toys become sculptural elements that are turned into pieces of art and décor.
