- Mixed Media,
Anja Zander of ZanaWoodArtZ creates a wide variety of functional and non-functional wood art made of domestic wood and driftwood, sometimes combined with other media, like sea glass, fossils, metal leaf, watercolors, acrylic or ink. Her functional art includes home decor (driftwood lamps, candle holder), items related to food and beverages (serving boards, glass trays), jewelry, and garden decor (bee hotels, birdhouses). Her non-functional wood art features abstract wood photography, sculptures, and wall art. Last year, Anja added “statement art” as a new category to her repertoire.
As an artist, she seeks to not only design items that can be used in our daily life but are simply nice to view. With her statement art, she aims to raise awareness for current events or actual topics and to emphasize a better, “golden” future.
Each piece of wood is carefully selected due to its uniqueness and all of her art is made as one of a kind. To become more sustainable, almost all of her items are finished with a homemade eco-friendly mineral oil & local beeswax conditioner instead of using lacquers and varnishes that can harm the environment.
