Brian Devlin is a self-employed artist working in Baltimore, MD and doing business as “FunKtionally RePurposed”. Brian’s focus is working with metals and he recycles, repurposes, and upcycles new, used, and salvaged materials into artistic creations – many of which have a functional use. His materials are primarily from the local area with much of his material coming from demolished city and county houses. A number of Brian’s pieces comment on social issues. His “Hands Up” lamp memorializes the 2015 Baltimore Uprising and his “MI Flint” lamp is a comment on the drinking water situation in Flint, MI.
Brian’s art show and gallery appearances include, among others, Baltimore’s Artscape festival (as 1 of 5 “Emerging Artists”), The American Visionary Arts Museum’s “Bazaart” Show and Sale, The Out of Hand Art Show and Sale, The Columbia Festival of the Arts and Art Rave Gallery in Washington, D.C. Brian is represented locally by the Y:Art Gallery (www.yartgalleryandfinegifts.com) in Baltimore’s Highlandtown Arts District.
